Controversial Advertisement in Adams Morgan Draws Attention
News

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- There's a controversial new advertisement in Adams Morgan that's drawing attention.

A group of four people appear to be sitting at a table while having a drink. There are glances exchanged and a woman looks to be playing footsie with a man. The poster, displayed on bus stops, reads "al fresco. al frisky. They're both on the menu in Adams Morgan."

People WUSA 9 interviewed in the neighborhood varied in their reactions. Some called it silly, risqué, fun and possibly offensive.

The Collective Action for Safe Spaces, a group which tries to raise awareness about sexual harassment against women, had one advocate write about the ad as disturbing on its website. An editor added the mix of alcohol and sex is "worrisome."

Repeated requests for an interview with the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District were not granted.
