Terry Bellamy, the Director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), today announced the hiring of Carl Jackson as Associate Director of DDOT’s Progressive Transportation Services Administration (PTSA).

DDOT To Implement Reserved Parking Meters For Persons With Disabilities

 

From Monica Hernandez: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced it will implement a new program designed to improve access for persons with disabilities to businesses and services in the commercial areas of the District.  Starting later this month the District will provide reserved metered parking spaces for persons with disabilities at distinctive “red top” meters.  This new program sets aside curbside parking spaces for the exclusive use by persons with disabilities and eliminates the free parking in metered spaces that has become a prime incentive behind the fraudulent use of disabled parking placards and license plates.

To observe the Thanksgiving holiday, all Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations will be closed on Thursday, November 24.  All DMV service centers, the vehicle inspection station, and adjudication services will open with regular operations on November 25.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is reminding travelers that Friday, November 11, 2001 is a national holiday and as a result there will be no rush hour restrictions or reversible lane changes during the morning and afternoon commutes. Sunday traffic patterns will be in place and drivers who use roadways with reversible lanes should use caution and anticipate 2-way traffic. That includes Rock Creek Parkway which is maintained and operated by the National Park Service.

District DMV Ticket Amnesty Program Yields Close to $2 Million in Revenue for the District

Three months into the District Department of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) Ticket Amnesty Program, customers have paid 35,357 outstanding tickets and the agency has collected a total of $1,902,665 in revenue.
